Did absolutely nothing to my car, other than keep it all day. Took it to Bob Brown in Ankeny and got my “4K” issue taken care of for $1500. They do not care about you, they just want to screw you over for money. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

The initial charge you’re referring to was for A/C system testing, along with tire pressure monitoring system testing. We always review testing charges with customers and obtain approval before any work is performed so there is a clear understanding of the process upfront. This testing allows us to determine the root cause of the issue, not just the symptom. In your vehicle’s case, testing indicated a failing compressor. When a compressor fails, it commonly sends metal debris throughout the A/C system, which can contaminate other components. Because of this, a proper repair often involves more than just replacing a single part to prevent repeat failure. We did our best to explain these findings and recommendations at the time, but we understand you were primarily looking for a quick price and may not have had the opportunity to go through everything in detail. It’s also true that different shops may approach repairs differently. In some cases, a lower upfront repair may address the immediate concern, while our recommendations are focused on preventing further issues down the road. We never want anyone to feel like “nothing was done,” as the testing performed is what allows us to provide accurate and responsible repair recommendations.
